Peggy,
CONGRATULATIONS! What a great thrill it is to have a child perform at the Magic Kingdom!
So you are going to be there at a very busy time of the year, but I bet you already knew that. There are two ways of tackling this;
- Many prefer to watch from anywhere OTHER than Main Street, U.S.A. or the hub in front of the castle. Frontierland comes to mind, for smaller crowds.
- Others will wait long hours to get a spot in these areas, though it can be a LONG wait.
Normally I would suggest the latter. But your son is
IN THE PARADE! You have to see it from Main Street.
I would suggest you target anywhere on Main Street, though I would want to be as in the middle as possible to get that "Music Man" feel. If you gravitate towards the castle you will be better set up for fireworks viewing, but everyone else will be trying for that too.
You HAVE to get there early. At that time of year my strategy would be to go by as much as 2 hours early and see if any crowds have started forming. Return every 15-30 minutes, and assume that you are going to have to camp out from 60 to 90 minutes ahead of time to get a good viewing spot. Ask the cast members when they are going to start putting up ropes for parade crowd control, and ask them where you should set up to catch the show.
I hope that this helps! Write me back from my bio page with any follow up questions! And tell us what band! I will be rooting for them from Mason, OH!
Have a magical vacation!
