Ahoy Amber!
Welcome aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am so happy to hear you are planning a high seas adventure with your son! Before you know it, you will be cruising with Captain Mickey. Use these last couple of months before you set sail to check your
packing list, download the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App and day dream of all of the
magic waiting for you onboard!
Although I don't have firsthand experience sailing with a wheelchair, I can tell you that throughout my cruises I have seen many guests in wheelchairs enjoying all of the activities onboard with ease, especially in the youth clubs! The youth counselors really are as helpful and accommodating as you have heard! Your son is more than welcome to participate in as many (or as few) activities in the
Oceaneer Club and
Oceaneer Lab as he would like. There are both counselor led group activities and individual fun in the youth clubs.
I would recommend you accompany him to the open houses in both spaces on your embarkation day to familiarize yourself with the clubs and get to know the youth counselors! You can also use your Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to find the activities taking place in the clubs each day. My kids LOVE Super Sloppy Science and Get the Hook!
For additional information on the special services and accommodations available during your sailing, feel free to reach out to Disney Cruise Line
Special Services before your magical getaway. Otherwise, you can always cruise back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and we are happy to help answer any questions you have before you set sail!
"Sea" ya real soon! Angie
