Hi Mindy! I can't think of a more magical place to celebrate your son's 5th birthday than Walt Disney World!
The Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party, at which you enjoy a buffet of sweet concoctions while viewing the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom, is definitely for children, as well as adults. The
Tomorrowland Terrace is located near Cinderella's Castle and does provide a nice
unobstructed view of the Castle and fireworks, and an exceptionally good view of
Tinker Bell, who flies from the Castle to the roof of the Terrace during Wishes. The all-you-care-to-eat buffet includes various cakes, cookies, fruit, and other desserts, along with coffee, tea, lemonade, milk, and hot cocoa.
Reservations are highly recommended for this popular party, which costs approximately $27.68
for adults and $14.90 for children 9 and under. You can book the party by calling 407-WDW-DINE.
If your son loves fireworks and sweets, then the Dessert Party would be a fun way to celebrate his birthday. However, other than dining on the desserts and waiting for the fireworks to begin, there aren't a lot of activities to entertain young children. For a more interactive experience, you might want to consider the
Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage instead. Click
here to read an answer in which I compare the Dessert Party to the Fireworks Voyage.
