My son will turn 10 in the middle of our trip. For planning purposes, in terms of dining and park tickets, do I use the age he begins the trip or the age he ends the trip?

    Hi Sarah,

I am so glad you stopped by planDisney with your question!

Everyone loves a birthday party, so thanks for allowing us to play a tiny role in your son's big day! Double-Digit-Day is a particularly exciting time, and I can't imagine a better way to welcome a new decade than by racing against the Grid, avoiding a pretty grumpy Yeti, exploring Andy's backyard, and hang gliding around the world! Walt Disney World Resort is the perfect place to celebrate.

I'm excited to share with you, Sarah, that Guests don't age at Walt Disney World Resort. (Thankfully! This is one reason why I visit so often!) That means that as long as you visit your first theme park before your kiddo's big birthday, you will make your plans as a Momma with a 9-year old. Phew! Live moves pretty fast outside those magical gates, eh?

To make your vacation extra special, make sure to pick up a complimentary Celebration button from any shop or even from your Walt Disney World Resort hotel front desk. If your son is anything like my daughters, he will pretend he doesn't love all of the birthday attention, but secretly adore the, "Happy Birthday" wishes from all directions.

Also, did you know that you can order a Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake at most Table Service Restaurants? They are super tasty and really adorable. You can select dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate to be enjoyed by 4-6 Guests. (We have found that they serve a little more than that. They are very rich!) Order in advance when you create an Advance Dining Reservation to guarantee your flavor choice or request one from the more limited selection at the welcome podium when you arrive.

Sarah, planDisney wishes your son the happiest birthday! Please come back and visit us with any other questions as you plan your unforgettable Disney vacation. We are here to help!

    Adventure is out there,

    Sally
