My son and I are taking a 3 day cruise in January on the Disney Dream and I am having trouble getting my passport renewed in time..what are your thoughts on traveling on the cruise without them?

    Ahoy Kim!
Welcome to the Moms Panel and congratulations on your upcoming Disney Dream cruise!  It won't be long now before you are enjoying all this spectacular vessel has to offer with your son!
Since you are sailing on a closed-loop cruise (beginning and ending in the same U.S. home port), you will be able to use your certified birth certificate with your picture ID to board the ship.  Disney Cruise Line does recommend passports since air travel from their foreign ports of call do require them to return to the U.S.  Since you are sailing on a three-night cruise with stops in Nassau and Castaway Cay, you should be fine if you cannot get your passport renewed in time.  Just know that if an unexpected emergency does occur, you will have to finish out your cruise on the ship.
My advice is to check the travel information at travel.state.gov so you can make the best decision for your upcoming sailing.
Thank you for stopping by with your question, Kim! If I can assist you further, please write back!
    Have a magical day!
