Hi! My son and I are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge May 12-May 19. I'm thinking we might like to enjoy the breakfast buffet at Boma once or twice during our stay. Is it really necessary to have reservations for this breakfast buffet?

It's a tough call. On a scale of meal reservation necessity, I would put breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table during Christmas week as a 10 (or maybe an 11). Contrast this with a non-character breakfast in a resort during a non-holiday week, which I would rank at around a 4. While I obviously can't make any guarantees, my guess is that if you show up without a reservation right when the restaurant opens at 7:30 a.m., there is a very high probability that you will be seated within about 15 minutes. The later you arrive, the more likely it will be that you'll have a wait, or not be able to dine there at all.

Remember that you can make reservations even while you're at WDW. Sometimes it even helps to make a meal reservation the night before you want to dine. If you'd like to keep your schedule loose, you could try deciding in the evening if you want to eat at Boma in the morning. Then call Disney Dining (there's a special button on your hotel room phone for this) and make a reservation for the next day. This could be the difference between showing up at 9:15 and having to wait for 40 minutes and showing up at 9:15 and being seated right away.
