    We are going with our 7 yo son and will be staying at the AK. I would like him to meet characters but I am not sure if I should pick breakfast, lunch or dinner? at which restaurant and what is the best value if we use reg. dining plan? Thank you

    As for character interaction, it does not matter whether you eat at breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You'll get the same great quality attention from the characters, no matter what time of day you dine. Expect lots of hugs, silliness, and autographs.

    From an overall vacation perspective, I would avoid having a character lunch. I find it breaks up the day in a weird way, either cutting into time we want to be touring or time we want to be at the hotel swimming or resting.

    From a pure money perspective, you're going to get more value from your dining plan if you make dinner your table service meal. The character dinners are usually more expensive than the character breakfasts. Prices can change, but as an example, the current price for an adult Chef Mickey's breakfast is $22.99, while the current price for a Chef Mickey's dinner is $29.99.

    Another value item to consider is how much food you're getting that you actually enjoy eating. So, for example, the meal at the Garden Grill is served family-style all-you-care-to-eat. The menu is fixed, so if you don't like the offerings, then you may not get your money's worth. (I happen to really enjoy the food there, by the way.) So, if value is a concern, then I would probably choose a buffet-style meal where there are LOTS of choices to appeal to all tastes.

    Beyond that, think about where you will be touring and what your character preferences are. Some good choices for you might be the dinners at the Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's
