My son has severe food allergies. I know that with reservations you can speak to the chef ahead of time and they will work around the allergies. But, as we won't be making reservations for every meal, how can we make sure the food is safe?

Hi, Jennifer!  I know it can be terribly scary sometimes to take kids with allergies to restaurants that you aren't used to going to.  Both of my nephews have pretty severe allergies, and it's hard to take them to restaurants outside of our comfort zone!

Even if you don't make a reservation, the chefs at most of the Walt Disney World restaurants will still do everything they can to make sure your son is served a meal he will enjoy that is safe for him to eat.  Let the host or hostess know when you are seated that your son has allergies, and also let your server know.  You may not have as many options as you might if you notified them ahead of time, but I know that they have worked with us in the past to provide meals my nephews could eat without concern.

    Have a great vacation!
