My son (8) & I are planning a mother son trip - we have been to Disney serval times already. But i would like to do something extra special while we are there. Any good recommendations?

    Hello there, Amber!

I'd like to welcome you back to planDisney and thank you for bringing us your special Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question. Your request resonated with me as a fellow mother who enjoys visiting Disney Destinations with her own young son! As I've visited the Disney Parks with my own growing child, the heartfelt themes and stories depicted in the nighttime spectaculars have taken on new meaning and significance. (I can't escape Happily Ever After without happy tears!) I'd love to help you make your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation especially memorable.

Amber, like many moms, it's likely that you know your child better than anyone else. For that reason, you're the best-suited person to decide what events, activities, or attractions mean the most to your son! As a starting point, I encourage you to explore the available Enchanted Extras Collection offerings. If your son is an animal enthusiast, consider a behind-the-scenes tour at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park, like Caring for Giants or the Wild Africa Trek! Is he a Star Wars fan? If so, building a custom lightsaber at Savi's Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers or piecing together a personalized droid at Droid Depot would make for a special memory (and a treasured souvenir!).

Keep in mind that you don't have to plan an extraordinary event to create a magical memory with your son. Seemingly small moments, like splashing in your Disney Resort hotel's pool together or going head-to-head putt-putting at Winter Summerland miniature golf can become memories that last a lifetime! Amber, think about your vacation from your son's perspective: if he could plan your trip all on his own, what activities would he prioritize? For example, if I put my little guy in charge of our itinerary planning, we'd have days jam-packed with Character Dining experiences! Those "small" moments might be the most meaningful to your child in the long run.

Amber, I hope you've found this information helpful as you continue to prepare for a cherished mother-and-son adventure at The Most Magical Place on Earth. I'd be thrilled to provide additional insights based on your son's preferences if you'd like to reach out to me directly with further details about your visit! Alternatively, you're always welcome to revisit planDisney for any other planning advice. We're all ears!

    See ya real soon,

    Lauren
