My son is very picky. I was interested in the dining plans, but with him only eating a select few things, I’m not sure it would be worth it to have it for him. Is there a way to just pay for the adults on the trip and leave him out of the dining plan?

Hey there, Alyssa! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I'm so happy to chat with a fellow resident of the Keystone State today and help in your planning.

Alyssa, Mom to Mom I appreciate this question because one of my sons is much more restrictive in his eating than the other so we spend time before each vacation looking at online menus and deciding which restaurants offer something for every member of our family.

Now, anytime we talk about dining around the Walt Disney World Resort, the Disney Dining Plan is always a good option to consider, but certainly not right for every family, so let's jump into your question. When adding the Disney Dining Plan to your reservation (for vacations beginning January 9, 2024), you must purchase the plan for every member of your immediate travel party (meaning those in the same Disney Resort Hotel room and on the same reservation). So, in your instance, you are not able to purchase the Disney Dining Plan for the adults and not your son.

My best recommendation would be to consider what restaurants you might enjoy before making a decision about the Disney Dining Plan and review all of the menus. So, for example, if you know that you'd like to eat at The Plaza Restaurant inside Magic Kingdom Park and 50's Prime Time Café inside Disney's Hollywood Studios, you can peruse those menus online to determine if your son would find an entree and dessert at those locations. Most Table-Service and Quick-Service restaurants at Walt Disney World offer an online menu.

Alyssa, while likely not the news you were wishing to hear, I do hope that it helps as you continue to plan and make decisions about dining on your upcoming vacation. Please come on back to planDisney with any additional questions.
