Ahoy there, Molly!
Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for bringing your question to us.
Your son must be so excited to set sail on an adventure at sea! I, too, am fascinated by these amazing vessels and enjoy opportunities to learn more about them. On most sailings, there are usually two tours. One tour is a walking tour for all ages. While it does not tour the bridge, there are some interesting things to be learned that will help you learn how to navigate the ship and other tips! The other tour is exclusive to Guests age 18 and up, called "Art of the Theme Show." This tour is an in-depth look at the design and details of the ship created by the Imagineers. These are complimentary and do not require you to register ahead of time. Check your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for when and where to join these special tours.
Molly, another option for your son is to check the onboard television programming in your stateroom. Typically, one channel features a view from the bridge and another features behind-the-scenes programming which explores different areas of the ship. I also recommend that you visit Guest Services and inquire about other opportunities, if any, for your son to explore the ship. From my experience, Crew Members are always happy to answer any questions they can to help Guests learn more about their home away from home.
As you prepare for your cruise, Molly, I encourage you and your son to watch
National Geographic's Making the Wish: Disney’s Newest Cruise Ship on
Disney+. He will be mesmerized!
Molly, your Disney Crusie Line vacation is quickly approaching! Please let us know if you have other questions; we have lots of tips to share.
Wishing you and your son many magical memories,
Shannon
