My son will need guardrails on his bed at the resort.  Should i contact the hotel now or wait until we arrive?

    I would do both.

Bed guardrails are available on request at WDW resorts. For any special request (room location, connecting rooms, etc.) including guardrails, I would call Disney reservations at 407-W-DISNEY and have them make a note on your file so that they can be prepared to meet your needs. Upon check-in, I would remind them of your request and ask them to bring the rails to your room right away, just so you know that they're there when you need them.

There have been occasions when we didn't love the Disney bedrails (we couldn't quite get them to attach properly). We ended up improvising by putting chairs around the bed and extra pillows on the floor. This seemed to work just fine too. No one fell out of bed anyway ;-)
