Hi Jessica, and welcome to planDisney! I love to talk about
Flight of Passage because it’s my favorite attraction at Disney World. Riding a banshee over
Pandora is such a cool experience!
Unfortunately, only guests with
Lightning Lane Single Pass (formerly known as Individual Lightning Lane) for Flight of Passage can go through the Lightning Lane entrance. If your son is old enough to be on his own, I have a few suggestions to pass the time while he’s waiting for you to finish your banshee adventure!
On your way into
Animal Kingdom, stop by the
Wilderness Explorer headquarters on the bridge between Oasis and Discovery Island. Your son can pick up a handbook and visit the two Wilderness Explorer Troop Leader tables in Pandora. It’s a great way to learn about conversation, and it’s fun for both kids and the young at heart!
Another idea would be to pick up a snack for your son to enjoy while waiting for you to be done. My favorites are the Pongu Lumpia (pineapple-cream cheese spring roll) and the Night Blossom (apple and desert pear limeade with boba balls) from
Pongu Pongu. Other sweet treats can be found at
Satu’li Canteen which also has lots of shaded outdoor and indoor seating.
Finally, when I was waiting for friends to ride Flight of Passage last week, my nephew and I hung out in the
Windtraders gift shop and played with the banshee toys. There’s also an experience to make your own avatar! The exit to Flight of Passage goes through the gift shop, so it’s a great place to meet after you’re done with the ride.
If your son isn’t old enough to wait on his own, and you have others visiting with you that day, you could use
Rider Switch. That’s what I did with my nephew last week. I waited with him while my friends rode Flight of Passage and then one of them stayed with my nephew while I went on the ride (you’re able to take a second person with you, so you don’t have to ride solo).
I’m sorry I didn’t have better news about the Lightning Lane entrance, but I hope this helps you figure out a plan for riding Flight of Passage! And if you have any other questions, we’d love to have you back at planDisney.
