My son (8) doesn't like many of the rides my daughter (10) does (Expedition Everest for example) & I'm wondering if he can wait with a cast member or someone while I ride with her since its only going to be the 3 of us visiting this year. Thanks so mu

    Hi Malynda,

Unfortunately there is no service like what you're suggesting. Disney cast members can't watch children in the parks.

I have a similar situation where my twins have very different ride interests. One likes thrills while the other does not. When I've taken them to WDW by myself I did have one of the girls wait alone on a bench for me while I took her sister on Expedition Everest, but she was age 11 at the time. I'm not sure that I personally would have done this at age eight.

There are two possible workarounds for you, both involving sitters. Disney has child care centers in many of the deluxe hotels (everyone is welcome to use them). They are generally open from 4:00 p.m. until midnight. You could leave your son there while you take your daughter out for some big ride time. The centers are super fun with art projects, video games, movies, toys, etc. They'll even feed him dinner if you select that option. To be fair, you could even switch and leave your daughter there on another evening to get special time with your son. You can get more information or make reservations by calling 407-WDW-DINE.

Another option is the sitting service kidsniteout.com. This is a Disney-vetted independent agency that provides childcare to resorts throughout Orlando. In addition to hiring a kidsniteout sitter to watch your children at your hotel, you can also hire them as "mother's helpers" to come with you to the parks. She would be able to watch your son, or even go on the ride with your daughter while you stay with your son. You should contact them directly for availability and rates.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
