My son (9) & I will be coming to WDW for the 1st time from 12/28-1/3. We're using the basic dining plan & I have 2 ?'s. Are we coming during a real busy time? If we make ADR and miss it (not on purpose of course), are we still charged for a sitting

Your travel week will definitely be busy. The weeks surrounding Christmas are always very crowded. I would just plan to take it slowly and try not to let the crowds get you down. Enjoy the beautiful holiday decorations in the resorts, go to Epcot's Candlelight Processional, have some great meals. And pick your top few rides that you want to do each day. Focus on those ... and consider anything else gravy.

As for your second question, the answer, for the most part, is no, you won't be charged for a meal if you miss your reservation. There are a few exceptions to this. A very small number of meals at WDW require a credit card to hold a reservation. These are (as of March 2008) Cinderella's Royal Table, the California Grill, the Princess Storybook meals, the dinner shows (Hoop Dee Doo, Luau, and Backyard BBQ), and the Fantasmic dinner packages. If you do not show up for one of these few meals, your credit card will be assessed a penalty fee. Otherwise, there will be no consequences if you miss a reservation. As a courtesy, if you know you will not be able to make a reservation, you should call Disney Dining to let them know, so that they can more quickly release your reservation to other guests. Disney Dining can be reached at 407-WDW-DINE.

    Enjoy your stay at WDW.
