My son and I have Celiac disease and this is our very first cruise. What should we do/who should we talk to when we first arrive on the ship? I'm afraid to wait till our first meal. I can get very sick and I don't want it to ruin our cruise.

Welcome back, Kelly! Disney Cruise Line is so amazing at helping families with food allergies to enjoy just as fabulous a cruise as any other guest. You're in for a real treat!

If you haven't already, please give the agents at Disney Cruise Line a call at 800-951-3532 to add your medical information to your cruise reservation. This is then passed along to your dining service team so they're on top of it before you even set foot in the restaurants for the first time. Since Disney offers Rotational Dining, you'll have the same team of dining servers with your family every evening, as they rotate through the restaurants with you. My kids love getting to know our dining servers, challenging them with jokes and riddles and trying to solve the fun games they offer the kids each night. But for you, you'll enjoy even more not having to re-explain your dietary needs to a new person each evening.

Disney suggests that guests with allergies and dietary needs such as yours try to eat only in the Table Service restaurants, as opposed to Cabanas buffet or the pool-side spots, as they are more equipped to handle allergies. However, feel free to talk with servers at the Quick Service spots to specify and ask about the foods there too if you'd like and if you feel comfortable.

If your condition is life-threatening and severe, you'll want to call the Special Services team at 407-566-3602 before you sail, preferably a couple weeks prior, which is right now for your trip, to discuss with them. Either way, once onboard, simply remind your dining servers that first night and they'll take great care of you both!

You're in for a delicious culinary experience dining onboard Disney's ships, Kelly! Enjoy your cruise!
