My son is a big sports fan. Can he visit the ESPN center to just check it out? Only events seem to be cheerleading and twirling when we go. I know nothing about the complex except he really wants to see it. Thanks!

    Hi Sarah!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I did a little research for this question because I honestly wasn't certain what they do at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on days that they aren't hosting an event!

For days that the ESPN Wide World of Sports Calendar shows that there are no events, the gates to the property are closed. The Cast Member I spoke with said they do a lot of maintenance around the facility and grooming the various fields on these days, so it's not open to the public.

For the days of your stay that there is an event going on you can visit, but it will require admission into the respective event. Unfortunately, if you purchase tickets to these events, there is a possibility that parts of the complex will still be closed off.

Since your son is such a huge sports fan, I did have a couple other recommendations for y'all to do on your visit. First, I'd go take a walk around Disney's All Start Sports Resort. This entire resort is dedicated to all things sports and has areas for baseball, basketball, football, surfing and tennis! Second, I'd grab a meal one day at the ESPN Club at Disney's BoardWalk. It is the ultimate sport fan dining experience with over 100 screens televising a variety of games!

I hope y'all have a wonderful trip and please let me know if you need any more help.
