My son is autistic and I am worried about crowds during fireworks. We are doing MK on deluxe extended hours evening but we are at a value resort. Can we still watch the 9pm fireworks behind the castle or do we need to watch from outside to avoid main stree

Welcome to planDisney, Sarah! You're smack in the middle of your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, so I hope things are off to a magical start. It sounds like you have a day planned at Magic Kingdom Park soon, so let's make sure you can schedule all the pixie dust for your family.

Extended Evening Theme Park Hours typically begin at 9:00 p.m., and it looks like Happily Ever After is scheduled to start at 9:00 p.m. this week, as well. Feel free to keep an eye on the calendar for any changes.

I'm happy to let you know that all guests are welcome to enjoy the nighttime spectacular from anywhere in the park! My tip is to keep tissues handy; when I hear the opening line, "Ready to begin," my eyes always get a little misty.

When the show ends, guests who aren't eligible to stay for Extended Evening Hours will be directed by Cast Members to exit the park. You won't be able to join any attraction queues without proof that you're staying at a participating resort, so you can head back to your hotel. Maybe take an after-dark dip in the pool!

I've also enjoyed the fireworks from the vantage point behind Cinderella Castle. I remember one evening when Cast Members closed the walkway from Pinocchio's Village Haus to Haunted Mansion due to windy conditions. Sparks from the fireworks needed to be contained with sprinklers, so the area near Prince Charming Regal Carousel got very congested with guests. Just a heads-up so you can have a plan B. I also thought the BOOMS were extra loud back there, but your son may enjoy that!

Sarah, I hope you make many marvelous memories on this trip! Please stop by planDisney anytime.

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
