We are in a (somewhat!) unique position of taking both a teen and a toddler to Magic Kingdom--ours boys are 3 and 18. Any suggestions about how to accommodate them both? If possible, we'd prefer not to split up but understand we may need to. Thank you!!

    Hi Timme,
How exciting to bring both of your boys to the Magic Kingdom for a family vacation! One of the things I love most about the Magic Kingdom is that there are many attractions that your family can enjoy together, which makes the experience so much fun! We're a blended family and our kids range in age from 15 to 4 and we all have a great time in the Magic Kingdom. Your limiting factor for your younger son will be the height restrictions for some of the attractions. Check out this great Disney Parks Blog post with a handy chart that tells you the minimum height for all Magic Kingdom attractions.

To ensure that everyone in the family that meets the height restriction can enjoy all the thrill rides (like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain and Seven Dwarves Mine Train), I suggest making use of the Rider Switch Service, one of my favorite features to use when someone in your family is either too small or just doesn't want to ride one of these attractions. What's great is that if you and your spouse both want to ride something with your older son, you can make use of the Rider Switch Service-and your son will get to ride twice! Just ensure that your entire party goes up to the Cast Member at the queue entrance to ask for your Rider Switch pass. I love to take my girls to get ice cream while the boys ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Splash Mountain, then switching so I get to take a turn!

Timme, I hope you and your family have a great time!!

    Best Wishes,
    Amy B.
