Hello Teresa,
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. We are glad you are here! Your question is a good one, and while Scrooge McDuck isn’t available to explain the intricacies of it, I’ll do my best. So, without further ado, let’s get down to numbers!
When determining tax rates, it is helpful to know that
Walt Disney World Resort spans two different Florida counties. Much of the resort is in Orange County, but part of it, including each of Disney’s All-Star Resorts, is located in Osceola County. Currently, Orange County taxes hotels at the rate of 12.5%, while Osceola County taxes hotels at the rate of 13.5%. (These rates are subject to change.)
Determining the tax on the sub-total (pre-tax price) of your Disney’s All-Star Resort stay depends on which of the three All-Star Resorts you choose. Generally,
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort has the lowest per-night rate, and then
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, followed by
Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort (rates are subject to change). Within each resort, your per-night rate will depend on what type of room you select (Preferred, Standard, or a Family Suite at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort). Also, you may be able to take advantage of
special offer Deals, which are often great savings for Guests from the UK and Ireland. Of course, you will also factor in the currency exchange rate. So, for your stay, the amount of tax in U.S. dollars you will pay depends on the above factors and not a flat rate we can provide here.
Teresa, I recommend that you visit the
Walt Disney World Resort website and price out a quote (you won’t have to complete the transaction). Make your selection of resort and room type and be sure to take advantage of any special offer Deals available. Keep in mind that Guests from the UK and Ireland have some great options for adding
Theme Park Tickets and airfare to their reservations. I hope you will be able to save a few dollars so that you can buy more Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars!
I hope this information is helpful to you in your planning. Please let us know if we can assist with other planning questions you may have!
Wishing you many magical memories,
Shannon
