I have a solo trip soon, and usually when it's just me traveling I stick to quick service restaurants. Any recommendations for the best table service restaurants or lounges to grab a meal as a solo traveler?

    Welcome to planDisney, Theresa!

Oh my, I’m so excited for you! As a mom, I truly enjoy those solo trips or even adult-only trips. It’s so exciting to experience and see Disney through my wants and must-dos versus family-driven planning. Now don’t get me wrong, I truly enjoy both styles of trips, but there’s something about those solo ones.

When I travel solo, I like to roam freely. I don’t really plan out my day, I just like to live in the moment and see where the day takes me. On those solo trips, I like to take advantage of walk-up reservations. Depending on where I am and what I’m in the mood for drives my dining experiences. Don’t worry though, I have a few options for you to check out too.

Nomad Lounge in Animal Kingdom is a good option, especially if you can grab a seat outdoors overlooking the water. It’s so peaceful! I also enjoy Spice Road Table in EPCOT for appetizers and a beverage. On my EPCOT visits, I tend to snack along the way rather than dine because being kid-free means I can check out every country without the rush of, ‘Mom what’s the next ride?’ If I had to dine in EPCOT though I would choose Via Napoli. The pizza is delicious and the wood-burning ovens are a cute touch, it’s a must-see.

If you will be in the Magic Kingdom area, I recommend resort dining before heading to the parks. I love Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary. The food, environment, and location are all incredible. My family and I dined here for breakfast one morning, but even without my family, I would visit again! Lastly, at Hollywood Studios, I favor The Hollywood Brown Derby, and again, favor sitting outside. I like taking in the theme park environment around me. You don’t have to sit outside, the experience is just as magical indoors, I’m just an outside person.

Theresa, I should clarify I’m an outside theme park type of girl, not a ‘let’s go camping’ type of girl. I thought I should mention that, and I hope some of my recommendations work for you. If you find that these aren’t your style, take a look at all the other dining locations. If you have questions about specific ones, ask away! Any of us here at planDisney are more than happy to share our personal experience with you!

Have a fantastic solo trip. Soak it all in, take tons of photos, and live in the moment!

    Enjoy,

    Shantel

Meet the Panelist: Shantel, Alabama

Hi ya Pals! I'm Shantel, an Army wife and mom of two. I grew up going to the parks, and now we're sharing that tradition with our kids. When I am not visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, I'm at home researching and planning for our next trip. One of my favorite things to do is search for new snacks to try, especially if they are Mickey shaped. I'm definitely living the dream my heart wished for! I cannot wait to answer your questions and help make your vacation even more magical!
