Aloha Meredith, and thanks for visiting us at planDisney!
Rainbow Reef is such a great introduction to snorkeling for beginners, although as a more experienced snorkeler, I also loved it! There are so many colorful fish and other treasures to discover. You might even spot a mischievous Menehune statue or hidden Mickey!
If you’d like to enjoy the snorkeling lagoon throughout your vacation, the Length-of-Stay Access pass is a great value. The water is kept on the cooler side for the fish, so it’s nice to split your time in the lagoon across a few days and warm up between swims.
Now, let’s talk about how many passes you’ll need to buy. I chatted with a Cast Member, and they confirmed that each person needs to have their own pass. So everyone in your family would need either the One-Day or Length-of-Stay Access, even if you’re not snorkeling at the same time.
If you’re taking turns, the windows are the perfect spot to get pictures and video of your daughter snorkeling. Just let her know where you’ll be so she can swim up to the window and wave! My mom got some great action shots of me snorkeling, and they’re some of my favorite pictures from our vacation.
There are also other ways to enjoy Rainbow Reef, like scuba diving and fish feeding. My family loved interacting with the fish during the feeding experience and it was so cool seeing them pop out of the water a little bit! If you’d like to sign up for this activity, be sure to stop by the Rainbow Reef Rentals kiosk in the morning since the time slots sell out quickly. On busy days, guests will even start lining up before they open.
As you’re preparing for your vacation, don’t forget that reservations for the kids club,
Aunty’s Beach House, and activities through the
Pau Hana Room open 45 days in advance. My favorites are Family Fun Animation and the ‘Ohana Ho’okani Pila ‘ukulele lessons. They fill up quickly, so be sure to reserve them as soon as your booking window opens on the Aulani website. You'll be playing Disney songs on the 'ukulele together before you know it!
I hope you have the most magical stay at
Aulani with your ‘ohana! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
