Is there any smoking areas in the Disney World parks? We want to plan a trip with my brother but he won’t go because he says there is no place to smoke unless he leaves the Parks and they are too big to do that.

    Deedee,

Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!

I did confirm that the smoking areas for the parks are located just outside the park entrances. For instance, the smoking area outside the Magic Kingdom turnstiles is located by the bus depot. Similarly, EPCOT has a designated smoking area by the Friendship Boats dock outside the International Gateway entrance, as well as to the east of the main park gates.

But now let's talk about park size and the walks involved. I understand the concern about the size of the parks, and the walks it takes to leave a park, take a break, and then return. For your planning conversations, you can share that the walk from the center of the Magic Kingdom to the smoking area just outside is just 1/5 of a mile, approximately 1200 feet. Even in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, the physically largest of all the parks, the walk from the Africa land to the smoking area is around 1/3 of a mile. Perhaps if you share this information with your brother, the challenge of getting in a break won't seem so overwhelming.

Please feel free to write me back directly if you have any follow-up questions.

    Have a Magical Vacation!
