Hi Lynn! As the Mom from North Carolina, arguably the Hush Puppy Capitol of the Nation, I had to answer your question and help you find some southern food on your next trip to Disney World! Where I live, most southern restaurants bring a complimentary basket of hot hush puppies to the table as soon as you're seated. Alas, at Disney World, hush puppies are little harder to come by, but I did track some down for you! The
Trail's End Restaurant at the Fort Wilderness Resort has a new a la carte lunch menu featuring southern favorites such as Fried Chicken and Waffles, Pork Chops with Hoppin' John, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Catfish served with Corn and Chive Hush Puppies! The Trail's End also serves breakfast and dinner buffets with lots of southern dishes, and many consider it a hidden gem as it has tasty food at very reasonable prices. Also, don't forget about the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue at Fort Wilderness. While hush puppies aren't on the menu, this dinner show features southern foods served family-style and a country-western show that's a barrel of laughs.
The signature restaurant
Narcoossee's served hush puppies alongside Shrimp Etouffee earlier this year, but that dish isn't on the current menu. However, if you want hush puppies in a more upscale dining experience, check Narcoossee's menu in the Spring to see if the Shrimp Etouffee with hush puppies has returned.
Hope you have a magical vacation next May! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if we can help you plan!
