Can I sit with my 2 kids, 7 and 4 on Big thunder mountain in Disneyland? What other rides can sit 3 across? They do pass the 40 inch mark so I was planning ahead

Welcome back to planDisney, Cristina! My amazingly magical pal Ashley P. answered a similar question for you for The Most Magical Place on Earth. I am happy to bring my Disneyland Resort experience to answer this question.

My family adores Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. When the last of my three daredevil kids reached the 40-inch height requirement, it became our family's go-to first attraction of the day. Cristina, we could happily ride three across on this ride in various combinations when they were younger - me with two kids, or all three kids together. While this has been my experience, you will want to check with a Cast Member at the attraction entrance to confirm.

Other rides that can generally fit three across (or accommodate groups of three in one vehicle) at Disneyland Park:

    • Haunted Mansion / Haunted Mansion Holiday
    • Pirates of the Caribbean
    • "it's a small world"
    • Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway
    • Main Street Vehicles
    • Jungle Cruise
    • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
    • Star Tours - The Adventure Continues
    • Autopia
    • Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
    • Mad Tea Party
    • Casey Jr. Circus Train
    • Many of the rides in Fantasyland

Rides that can usually fit three across at Disney California Adventure Park:

    • Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!
    • Radiator Springs Racers
    • Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!
    • Grizzly River Run
    • Soarin' Around the World
    • Pixar Pal-A-Round
    • Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind
    • WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
    • The Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure
    • Mater's Junkyard Jamboree

Cristina, you will want to check the height requirement for the rides I mentioned above in the Disneyland Mobile App. In the app, head to the Disneyland Resort map by clicking the Pin icon on the bottom left of the app home screen. From there, click "Filter" in the top left and discover rides perfect for your kids based on height requirement, age, thrill factor, and more! This trick helps when planning a park day for younger kids.

I hope this information helps, Cristina! We'd love to help you plan some more. Please let me know if you have any more questions!

    See you in the parks,
    Melissa
