I am a single parent and have two kids, a 12 yo and 7 yo. They both want to ride with me. How can I use the child swap to my advantage?

The child swap option doesn't really apply to you. The child swap comes into play when you have two adults who both want to ride on a particular attraction and are with a child who is too short to ride on that attraction. The child can't be left alone and the adults don't want to have to wait in line twice, so they use the child swap.

You're in a somewhat opposite situation. You have a party of three that you don't want to split up. You can read a lengthy answer to a similar question that I gave to another single parent here, but the upshot is that the vast majority of the time you will not even encounter a choice of which child to ride with. Many rides allow groups of three (or more) to go on together. There are, of course, some rides that do only seat two across. In this case, I would have the children sit together and you sit in the separate ride vehicle. If that doesn't work I would devise some non-confrontational method of choosing who sits with you such as flipping a coin, rock/paper/scissors, or simply alternating your companion for each ride.

    Hope this helps.
