I am a single grandmother wanting to take my grandkids, age 7 and 12 to Disneyworld. My question is, What do I do with the 7 year old while I am riding with the 12 year old and vise versa? Thank you.

You can read a complete answer to a similar question HERE. The short answer is that there are very few attractions where you would need to split up your group of three. In the rare instance where a ride vehicle does only seat two, I have generally had the two kids ride together with the adult sitting one car behind them. This set-up has always worked for my family.

You do have the potential for a different problem, however. You will likely run into a situation where the 12 year old will want to experience an attraction that the 7 year old is not yet tall enough for. Your options here are limited. Since you cannot leave the younger child unattended at the park, you would have to allow the older child to experience that ride on his or her own. You and the 7 year old could stand in the ride queue with the 12 year old until boarding time and then leave to meet him/her at the exit. The only other real option would be to arrange for sitting for the 7 year old (either in-room or at one of the childcare centers) one evening while you took the 12 year old alone of some of the thrill rides.
