Hi Moms, I am a single father of 3 taking my 2 oldest (boy 9 & girl 5) for spring break. I'm on a strict budget so should I buy base tickets or hoppers for 3 days? Which would be the best parks to visit? And should I buy the meal deal?

Hi Mike - what a great dad you are and what a special time for you and the two oldest!  Okay first question with regards to what type of ticket to purchase.  The way Disney tickets are sold, you actually save money on park tickets the longer you stay.  Yes, you might save a little on the base ticket but the problem occurs when it's 5 PM and your kids say "I really want to go back and ride Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios and you are at the Magic Kingdom."  Without the hopper, you can't do that.  So my suggestion, if feasible, purchase the hopper pass.
Which parks to visit?  With the ages of your children most definitely I recommend MK, because to me that is what Disney is all about.  I think your children would also love DHS.  Why not let them go to www.disneyworld.com and check out the attractions at all the parks, I bet they will help you make your decision a bit easier.  And remember with that hopper pass you can do more than one park in a day, if that is what they choose.
Okay meal plan, Mike, I have added it up and we always save money when we go with the dining plan.  You don't have to choose the most expensive one, select the one that best fits your needs, but absolutely I recommend it for convenience and the extra savings you receive on meals. I hope you and your two children have a magical spring break.
