Signed up for Blue Lagoon Segway tour. After, want to snorkel and see bright tropical fish. Read that that's only possible on north side at high tide--true? Is it walkable from the beach? Is there a better plan for snorkeling after the Segway tour?

    Welcome aboard, Rachel!

Blue Lagoon is a favorite spot of mine in the Bahamas. There is something so relaxing and secluded about this island paradise. I'm really happy to hear that you'll get to enjoy some time there next week! The Blue Lagoon Segway Tour is a fabulous way to be active yet also enjoy the gorgeous scenery in a way you can't if just relaxing on the beach. What fun you'll have!

Snorkeling is another favorite activity of my family. I have not been snorkeling off the beach on the North Side of Nassau before, so I cannot speak to that. However, I will say that snorkeling anywhere right off the beach isn't going to provide you with the most stunning brightly colored views underwater that you might be hoping for. In order to enjoy those, I'd suggest booking a Port Adventure that takes you out to a more secluded part of the ocean, like the Catamaran Sail & Reef Snorkeling trip that goes out to a gorgeous coral reef where you will see a greater variety of tropical fish amongst the reef. But, wherever you choose to snorkel, even off Blue Lagoon, you'll see some pretty breathtaking sights, though the reefs farther out in the ocean will by far hold the more glorious of the underwater sights!

When you enjoy the day at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, there is a Snorkel Lagoon there too! On clear, calm days, we've had some fabulous fish sightings there. Again, this is right off the beach, so it's not quite the same as heading out to the middle of the ocean on a reef to snorkel, but we've always enjoyed the fish and even big sea turtles that we've been swimming amongst when we've snorkeled there, so keep that in mind as an easy option too. It's available to pre-book, but they have plenty of snorkel equipment, so you can even wait and decide that day once you're on the beach and simply walk up to rent equipment. It couldn't be easier. Or, if you have your own snorkel gear, (and room in your suitcase) pack it and you're welcome to use your own. We usually do this, and then just borrow (for free) the required snorkel vest from the rental spot on Castaway Cay.

I hope those ideas help as you get ready to enjoy a magical experience next week, Rachel!
