Hi Ashley,
Welcome to planDisney! I love hearing stories about family members who participate in runDisney together. Next month, I plan to run the Springtime Surprise 5K with one of my kids, and I look forward to the day my entire family can do a runDisney event together!
You should have no issues registering your niece for a runDisney event. I spoke with a runDisney Cast Member who told me that if you were registering your niece for an event with an age requirement of 18 years old, you might have to call to register.
The age requirements for Princess Weekend are 5 years or older for the 5K, 10 years or older for the 10K, and 14 years and older for the Half Marathon.
When you register, you’ll have the option to register yourself or someone else. Once you choose “someone else,” you can select who you will register and input their information. The runDisney Cast Member also confirmed that you can register your niece even though you are not her parent.
Princess Half Marathon Weekend registration opens June 24, 2025. Since you’re registering your niece, here is some information I suggest having available. You’ll need her birthday, T-shirt size, address, phone number, and the phone number of an emergency contact. Before you check out you’ll have the option of adding another registration, so you can register yourself and your niece in one transaction.
Your registration isn’t secured until you’ve completed your payment and received your confirmation e-mail.
I hope this helps, Ashley. Have you seen the new themes for the
2025 runDisney Virtual Series? If you run from June 1, 2025, through August 31, 2025, you and your niece can earn medals themed to
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad,
Jungle Cruise, and
Pirates of the Caribbean. Register for the Challenge and earn all three medals plus a
Happily Ever After medal! If you have any more questions about runDisney or planning the perfect Princess Weekend girls’ getaway, come back and
see me at planDisney!
