Hi there, Fryda! Welcome to planDisney!
It sounds like you’re gearing up to lace up your running shoes for the
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend next month! This final race weekend of the 2024-2025 runDisney season is all about adventure, featuring heroic Disney Characters as the theme. Whether you’re tackling the 5K, 10K, or 10-Miler, there’s a race to match your fitness level. And if you’re taking on all three, get ready to make some extra room in your suitcase for that fourth Challenge
medal, because that’s a lot of well-earned bling!
Now, let’s talk race day logistics. I have good news! If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, Shades of Green, or the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts, complimentary runDisney bus transportation will be available to take you to and from the races (and also for the
runDisney Health & Fitness Expo). Race day buses start running at 3:00 AM, and athletes and spectators should arrive at EPCOT by 4:00 AM for all races. Since the monorail and Disney Skyliner will not be operating during race mornings, I highly recommend taking advantage of these buses as they make those early wake-up calls a little easier to handle! Transportation times and pick-up locations will be posted in your resort lobby, so be sure to check those signs the night before. Also, you can check the
Digital Expo & Event Guide, which contains information relevant to race day.
Speaking of early wake-ups, don’t forget to set multiple alarms (trust me, I’ve learned this the hard way)! The last thing you want is to have to sprint after the final bus, unless you’re looking for an unexpected warm-up!
And while we’re on the topic of race prep, keep an eye on the weather forecast leading up to race weekend. If rain is in the mix, I recommend packing a change of clothes for the bus ride back to your resort. gEAR Bag check is available for all three races and can be found in the Reunion Area. Just use the clear plastic bag you’ll receive at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo with your race shirt.
I hope this helps, Fryda! If you have any other runDisney questions, whether about training, packing, or celebrating after you cross the finish line, I’m happy to help. Now, as Hercules says, get ready to Go the Distance!
