Hiya, Kayli, and welcome to planDisney from a fellow Floridian! Don't you love the
perks and benefits of living in the Sunshine State? I'm also an
Annual Passholder, so we share many Disney traits. Applying the passholder discount is as easy as hugging Mickey, so let's talk about how it works when you visit
Walt Disney World Resort.
In the past, I was asked to show my Annual Passholder physical card and a valid photo ID to have discounts applied. I even have a cute Minnie Mouse cardholder with a clear window to slide out the passholder card behind my ID; the Cast Member at the shop or restaurant would check both, and like magic, my discount would be applied.
When I renewed my pass a couple of months ago, the Cast Member at Guest Relations told me that the physical cards are being phased out over the next couple of years. He said the goal is for passholders to pull up their annual pass on their mobile app and show a photo ID to qualify for discounts.
It's been my experience that most shops and restaurants still look at the physical passholder card, but there was one dining location that asked me to pull up my Annual Pass on the app last week. I noticed that my new passholder card doesn't list an expiration date, so that's probably the reason for the new policy.
To pull up your pass, open your
My Disney Experience mobile app and tap the Tickets and Passes tile. Your annual pass should populate across the top, and the expiration date will be under the bar code. Showing that and a valid photo ID will have you enjoying
passholder savings at many locations throughout the theme parks, resorts, and Disney Springs.
While you can use your
MagicBand as your Disney Resort Hotel key, theme park ticket, and more, your band will not work as proof of your annual pass for discounts.
One tip is that when you place a mobile order for food or merchandise at participating locations, your passholder discount will "autoMAGICally" be applied! Check out
Mobile Food Ordering and
Merchandise Mobile Checkout to see how easy it is. It's been months since I waited in line for food or merchandise!
Kayli, I hope your visit is practically perfect in every way, and enjoy that Disney Pirate Pass! Please feel free to
stop by planDisney with any additional questions.
Magic awaits,
Elaine
