Hi Shannon - Do you have any recommendations on which ship is best for someone who utilizes O2 tanks? My husband is always up for an adventure but lots of walking can be a challenge. We've been on Fantasy but would love to explore the Wish. Thanks!

    Ahoy there, Kerri,

Welcome aboard planDisney! Thanks for bringing your important question to me. Disney Cruise Line values making each Guest welcome, so let’s take a look at some of the ways the Disney Wish might be right for your family’s next adventure!

Having recently sailed on the Disney Wish, I have a few thoughts I would like to share with you. Although the Disney Wish is the largest of the Disney fleet, in some ways it feels like a smaller ship.  For example, Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, which you will certainly want to visit, is located just off the Grand Hall, which makes it easily accessible. The Walt Disney Theatre and 1923, one of the rotational dining options and a fabulous place for a table service lunch, are also located just steps away from the Grand Hall. And Kerri, the good news is that both banks of elevators are also just steps away from the Grand Hall! I think you SEA where I’m going here.

Now, one thing that might make the Disney Wish a bit of a challenge for your husband is that there are two elevator banks, rather than the three you will find on the rest of the Disney fleet. Another thing to note is that not all the elevators service the higher decks on the Disney Wish. So, be mindful that it may be a little tricky to navigate decks 12, 13, and 14. Crew Members are always nearby to assist, and they were very helpful in steering us in the right direction!

Kerri, it is a good idea to let the Cast Members know of your husband’s medical situation prior to sailing. Guests with medical conditions, such as requiring oxygen equipment, are asked to complete and submit the Special Services Information Form at least 60 days before the start of their vacation or you can simply contact the Special Services Team at (407) 566-3602 or SpecialServices@disneycruise.com. The Special Services Team will be mindful of your needs and ready to offer assistance if needed. You can also visit Guest Services, on Deck 4, Midship, to answer any questions you may have. In the meantime, you may find the Guests with Medical Conditions information helpful.

Of course, one of my favorite things about any Disney ship is enjoying a little rest and relaxation in the Rainforest Room at Senses Spa and & Salon. If you and your husband haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it as a perfect place to enjoy the ship without having to move a muscle!

Kerri, thanks for cruising by with your question. I hope this information was helpful. If you have other questions or would like some other tips, please let me know.

Wishing you smooth sailing and magical memories,
    Shannon
