Welcome aboard, Kristin! Congratulations on your very first cruise with Disney! This time next year you'll be off to sea with Captain Mickey! There will be so many magical memories made onboard and in the ports of call, so I totally understand wanting to share those memories with family back home!
First of all, please be sure to download the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to your mobile devices. This is a free app that runs for free on the WiFi onboard the ship. It will give you access to the schedule of all of the events and activities, ship map, Character Greetings, menus, and more!
Now, I mentioned that WiFi onboard. Only the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App runs for free on that WiFi. If you'd like to do anything else online, you'll need to purchase a Connect@Sea data package to use throughout your cruise. Here's a hint: when you receive your first paper copy of the Personal Navigator as you check in at port, flip it over on the back and see if they have a first day only offer of 50 MB free internet. If so, be sure to sign up for that right away that first day by following the instructions provided. You can then use that throughout your cruise. It's one package per stateroom. I try to unplug when we set sail so we can escape the world and really live in the moment, but I do like to check in just a few times to share a photo or two, so that 50 MB has been plenty for me. I love the data usage meter that shows exactly how much I've already used.
Then, once you use up that allotted data, you can easily purchase another
Connect@Sea data package if need be. They start at $19 for a 100 MB package and go up from there. A Pay-As-You-Go option is also available at 25 cents per MB, though prices are subject to change.
Have a magical adventure at sea, Kristin!
