Hi Steve!
Welcome to planDisney! We’re so glad you stopped by with a question ahead of your arrival later this week.
As a frequent Disney Resort guest, I love being able to charge purchases to my room with a quick tap of my
MagicBand+. If you’re hoping to do the same, you’ll need to have a method of payment linked to your resort reservation and set up a 4-digit PIN. While a Cast Member will be happy to assist you with this at the Front Desk when you arrive, you can get these steps taken care of through the
Online Check-In process before leaving home. This is available
on the Walt Disney World Resort website or via the My Disney Experience app, which is my preferred method.
First, make sure your resort stay or room and ticket
vacation package is linked to your My Disney Experience account. Next, open your
My Disney Experience app and locate your resort reservation under “My Plans” to begin the check-in process. This was recently revamped, and the steps are now clearer than ever to follow.
You'll first see prompts to verify or update your home address and contact information. Although optional, I recommend including your phone number during this step to get notifications via text when your room is ready on your arrival day. You'll also input your credit or debit card details, estimated arrival time, and room requests (remember, these are requests, not guarantees), and create a PIN during this process.
If you’ve set up a PIN for a previous stay but it’s been some time and you’ve forgotten (don’t worry, I’ve been there too), you can reset your PIN at any time. To do so, click the app's feature menu (☰) then scroll down to select “MyDisney Wallet” from the Account section. You’ll have the option to store up to 6 different methods of payment here and set a default. You’ll also see a link for “Disney Resort Hotel Guest Pin” at the top of the screen. Click that and follow the prompts to reset your PIN selection.
If you are staying with other adults who want to charge their purchases to a different card than the one you used to check in, not to worry. They can visit the resort's Front Desk at their convenience to link a different method of payment to their MagicBand. I’ve done this on a few different occasions, and it’s always a pretty quick process.
I hope this helps, Steve! If you need additional assistance, please come right back to planDisney and let us know. We're always ready to assist.
Magic and memories,
Amy
