Sensitive subject but thought I'd ask. We are planning a trip for my daughters 5th bday in January w/her 2 little brothers. However, our daughter passed away. Is there anything we could possibly do to recognize her bday even though she's no longer w/us?

Shelley, I want to first say that I am so sorry for your loss, and I am so glad that you were comfortable enough to come to us with your very important question.  I hope that I find things that will help you celebrate her life, her birthday, and how much she means to your family.

First and foremost, this is her birthday, and with two little brothers, a birthday cake may be the simplest way to help them understand the reason for the celebration.  You can order a celebration cake by calling 407-827-2253.  You can have the cake delivered to some of the restaurants at Walt Disney World, or you can have it delivered to your resort room, where you can honor her with some privacy if you prefer.

Did your beautiful princess have a favorite color?  You might have everyone wear a t-shirt in her favorite color to commemorate her birthday.  You could even wear something that reminds you of her favorite character, and look for that character in the theme parks to have the boys' photo taken with him.

If you'll have a backpack in the park with you, you might want to bring a mat from a photo frame.  Have the mat signed by the characters that you meet in the park, maybe some will even be able to put happy birthday in their autograph, and then when you get home, put a picture of your gorgeous girl in a frame with the mat around it.  This will not only make her a part of your vacation, but give you a keepsake to remember the birthday celebration with.

You will be in my prayers, Shelley, and if there is anything else I can do to help make this a more memorable, magical trip, please get back in touch.
