While none of the
Disney Resorts Collection hotels are actually in
EPCOT, there are some that are definitely closer than others.
Disney's Beach Club Resort,
Disney's Yacht Club Resort, and
Disney's BoardWalk Inn are all within walking distance to EPCOT, with wheelchair-accessible
Friendship Boat launches at the back of the resorts.
Although owned by Marriott and not Disney, these hotels - the
Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, the
Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, and the
Walt Disney World Swan Reserve also offer friendship boat transportation. You also get some of the perks of being a Disney resort guest, including the Theme Park
Early Entry and
Extended Evening hours.
As for the best time of year, there's always something going on at EPCOT, so you can't go wrong any time of year, but I tend to prefer it when it's not so hot. My favorite time is right after Thanksgiving, when the
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is taking place. There are holiday kitchens, serving up some traditional food and drinks from around the world, and storytellers to share the tales of holidays in their countries. The best is the
Candlelight Processional, a celebrity narrated retelling of the story of Christmas, with a full orchestra and choir accompaniment.
Another favorite time is the fall, when the
EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival takes place. There are culinary events throughout the festival, plus a chance to sample cuisine from each of the countries.
