How do you get selected to be the grand marshall or guest family in the parades at Disney World?

    Hi Catherine,

There is no official way to be selected for these fun opportunities. Sometimes the selected families are part of special events like Make a Wish trips, or winners of prizes, like Disney contests you may find online. During the recent Million Dreams promotion, families that won overnight stays at Cinderella Castle were also the grand marshalls in the Magic Kingdom parade that day. Early park goers usually have the best chance of being selected in order to get everything in place for the parade time.

Mostly, it is about being in the right place at the right time. Disney has Cast Members who are on the lookout for families just like you, enjoying their time together at Disney World. If you are lucky they will stop and ask you to be a part of one of the parades. We were asked one time to participate in the Hollywood Studios parade. We were waiting in line for Playhouse Disney and happen to be talking to a Cast Member, who asked us to join them in the parade that afternoon.

So have fun and enjoy your time and hopefully with a little luck and lots of pixie dust, your family will be selected too!
