Hi Ashley!
Welcome to planDisney and thanks for bringing us your question about attractions! As someone who is plus-size, and has traveled with Disney pals of all shapes and sizes, I understand your concern. For our trips, I research the attractions, and the safety systems to make sure that both my party and myself can enjoy the experience as it was intended.
Ashley, while you are correct that there are no weight restrictions for the attractions at Walt Disney World, there are some attractions that can be a bit uncomfortable for a plus-sized guest. It truly depends on where your weight is distributed. My experience has been that I have had no trouble on lap restraint rides, as I'm heaviest in my lower half, however,
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was quite snug for me. I was able to ride the attraction, but the seat area is a bit smaller and the lap restraint tends to push my legs together. On the other hand, my husband has difficulty with some lap bar attractions as he carries his weight in his torso, so he tends to ride solo on these to allow for extra room. The only other exception would be
Avatar Flight of Passage in Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. There are calf restraints and a back restraint that come up once you are seated, which must be locked into position. Someone with larger calves or a large stomach may have difficulty with the seating on this attraction. There is a test seat outside where you will be able to see if you could enjoy the experience comfortably. As my husband is also tall, he has been able to ride some attractions although the seating and entry/exit to the ride vehicles were a little uncomfortable. On
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and
Test Track, ask for a front seat, as those offer the best legroom. The seats on
Space Mountain are low, and I'd recommend asking for a front-row seat to allow for extra legroom.
Kali River Rapids requires you to sit with another person, so make sure to speak to the Cast Member and request to be seated solo before getting on the attraction. They will try to accommodate you.
We've been able to enjoy all the other attractions and shows throughout Walt Disney World without an issue or concern. One suggestion I have for you is to check out some of the YouTube videos of the attractions. This has helped us immensely in gauging the ride experience for us and for friends and family who want to know how the ride seating is, and whether it might be a good fit for them.
I truly hope this helps you have the most magical vacation!
