I’ve seen the new vegan prix fixe menu at California Grill—can the deluxe dining plan be used on this meal?

Hello, Amber! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

The “Vegan Unplugged” menu at California Grill is one of my family’s absolute favorites for special occasions. We’ve enjoyed birthday and anniversary dinners there as well as celebratory meals following runDisney races. With four options available per person, we love mixing it up and each ordering something different, then sharing bites of each other’s favorites. My daughter refused to share her special birthday dessert when we were there in June, though: it was a fresh vegan lavender donut served with blackberries, edible flowers and a side of raspberry sorbet. Our server even stuck a birthday candle in the sorbet!

Since California Grill is considered a “signature” dining experience, it will require the use of two credits on the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan. When your server greets you, let them know that you’ll be using your Dining Plan credits and that you would like to order from the “Vegan Unplugged” menu and they’ll get you squared away. You'll be able to choose four small plate options from that special menu as well as one non-alcoholic beverage (or alcoholic beverage for Guests over 21).

Menu offerings are subject to change based on seasons and/or fresh ingredient availability. The past several times we’ve visited, though, we’ve enjoyed the “Vegan Black Truffle Selezione Pasta” and the “Forbidden Vegan Roll.” There’s usually a vegan pizza option, and when we were there in June it was the “Vegan Chef’s Garden Heirloom Tomato Pizza” (and that’s one of my personal favorites). My husband loved the new “Plant-Based Kafta,” but that is one of the vegetarian options on the menu. You may be able to have it modified to be vegan with the omission of the herbed yogurt, though.

I hope you get to experience this delectable meal during your next visit to Walt Disney World Resort, Amber! Make sure you return with your receipt later that evening to watch the Magic Kingdom Park fireworks from the outdoor breezeway, too. From high atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort, it's a view that's as spectacular as your meal!
