I have seen some negative info regarding the DP, however my family of four was going to be using it the first week of August. We have ADR for every night of the trip and are very excited about each and eveyone. Any advice, should we cancel?

Well... my opinion may be biased as I love the Dining Plan.  But I can tell you that our family is going to Disney in August as well and we are using the plan with no hesitation.

Some changes were made to the Dining Plan this year.  Anytime something changes, there are bound to be some complaints.  People just don't like change!  However the plan can still be a financial savings as well as a planning simplifier, and that alone makes it worthwhile to me!  Knowing up front what our food costs will be helps us to budget accordingly, and it is a big part of my to-do list checked off in one fell swoop.  That's priceless!

The biggest change this year (the one that I think has generated the most complaints) is that the gratuity must be paid separately.  This is something you will need to plan for, and either carry cash or plan on charging the tips at your meals.  I feel this is a minor inconvenience and the plan is still worth using, and I think you will feel the same way.

The only way to really know how the plan will work for your family is to try it and see.  I'd keep your reservations and enjoy!
