I have seen many restaurants/character meals that require full payment at the time you make the reservation. If I plan on getting the Dining Plan, will it be refunded on my credit card? How does this work?

A few of the most popular restaurants (among them are California Grill, Cinderella's Royal Table, and the Hoop Dee Doo Revue) at WDW do require a credit card to hold a reservation. But don't worry if you're on the Disney Dining Plan. When you sit down to dine at one of these restaurants, simply tell your server that you're on the Dining Plan and that you'd like to have the charge removed from your credit card. When if comes time to pay, present your server with your Key to World Card as payment (using your DDP credits) and they will take the charge off your credit card. This is NOT a big deal at all. There will be many thousands of other guests doing this every day (basically everyone who dines at these restaurants who is on the dining plan).

Hope you have a great trip!
