Hiya, Andrea! Thanks for taking the time to visit the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
The Walt Disney World Resort Fun Runs can be a magical way to start your day, and you don't even have to be staying at that resort hotel to participate. In fact, the most challenging thing about them is not running the race, but finding out information, as they are not currently listed on the Walt Disney World website. If you happen to be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, the easiest thing is to register beforehand at your resort's community hall or concierge desk. However, even if you're not staying there (or if you make a "game-day" decision), registration can be done on race morning, 30 to 60 minutes in advance near the starting line.
In doing some research for a similar question recently, I also found out that guests can call the Walt Disney World Resort Recreation Department to register in advance of their vacation at (407) WDW-PLAY/(407) 939-7529. The Cast Member I spoke with provided me with lots of "run-believable" information! The current cost is $15 per runner, and Mouseketeers under 3 are free (pricing information is subject to change). Unlike the runDisney races, these races are not timed and are very low key. The Resort Fun Runs are organized by the resort's recreation departments, so you'll also see information about them on the flyer you're handed when you check-in. Most occur year-round sometime between 7:00- 9:00 AM, but they typically do not have them during weeks when there are scheduled runDisney events.

One of my favorite things is that the Fun Runs come with a little bit of swag, such as sunglasses, drawstring bags, water bottles, or a snack. My hometown is New Orleans, so one of these days, I must do the Beignet Dash Fun Run (#willrunforbeignets).
Get ready, get set, and GO have fun on your upcoming vacation, Andrea!
