    I have seen "birthday pins" mentioned. What are they? What do they look like? What, if anything, do they do?

    You can ask for a free "birthday button" (I'd call it a "button" more than a "pin") at Guest Relations at the WDW Parks and Resorts.  You can sometimes also get them at the stores and even the carts, if they have some on hand.  They are very large round colorful buttons that say "Today is My Birthday" in very large lettering. 

    They used to have different ones for each park, but now the same button design is used across all the parks.

    They don't exactly "do" anything, but they do help communicate the fact that you are celebrating a birthday.  In some cases cast members may be extra nice to the birthday person, or simply go out of their way to say "Happy Birthday!"  I guess you could consider it a helpful way for "magic" to more likely come your way!

    By the way, it really doesn't have to exactly be your birthday to wear the button.  No one is checking birth certificates!  If you just missed a birthday, or one is coming, you decide if you think a button is appropriate for the day.

    Similar buttons exist for "Anniversaries" and "My First Visit to Walt Disney World"
