Hi! Seeking clarification, please - have seen varying responses. Wondering if Disney GC's can be directly applied to Key to the World card at check-in or only used to pay for CC charges upon check-out? We will have several $25 and $50 to use. Thanks :)

    Brooke,

I have done this myself for 3 years in a row, so I am very confident in this answer. Yes, you can apply your gift cards to your resort account (and thus to your Key to the World cards indirectly) when you check in.

The variance in answers may come from the fact that they will ask you not to put everything on your account up front. The reason why they do this is that if you put $1000 of gift card credits onto your account, but only spend $800 of it, they can't give you the $200 difference back.

The way it has always worked out for me is that I put $500 or so on the account on check in. And yes, I do put a standard credit card on the account too. They have to have that. But obviously they go through the credit first. And they only bill your credit card after a certain amount of charges have been accrued.

I then went back on two different afternoons and applied more gift cards to the account. That took care of it.

One other note. They often run a final (or close to final) bill the afternoon BEFORE you check out. So they may charge your credit card if you have not put the remainder of those cards onto your account.

BOTTOM LINE: YES, you can apply Disney Gift Cards to your resort room account.

Write me back if you have any follow up questions!

    Have a magical vacation!
