Are there any secrets for getting a reservation at the Villas at Grand California if it isn't your home resort? We have a 50th wedding anniversary to celebrate for my in-laws and I am really hoping we can make it work?

    Hi there, Steve!

On the plus side of being a Disney Vacation Club Member is access to some amazing deluxe accommodations - not just at Walt Disney World. Included among these are The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa.

The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa are hard to get if you aren't a DVC owner at that property. Most guests find that when the 7-month window opens, the property has already sold out. It can be difficult and frustrating, but I do have a few tips.

First, make sure you are online at the exact minute online booking opens on the exact day your 7 month window opens. You can book beginning at 8:00 AM Eastern time, and you'll want to be logged in and ready to go.

Second, be flexible with dates and accommodation types. I know you are traveling for a very special occasion, but if there's any flexibility at all in your arrival or departure dates, try the different date configurations for what may work for your trip. Also, if you can book a studio, 1-bedroom, or a 2-bedroom, search for those options all at the same time. You may have more or less space than you initially bargained for, but it might open up something.

Don't forget the option to waitlist. If the accommodation isn't available, you can set up a waitlist. In the event someone else cancels, you may get the room. Waitlist right away, though, as soon as you see it's not available. That puts you higher up on the list.

    Good luck, Steve!
