Hi Lisa!
Welcome to planDisney! As a fellow family of 5, I’m happy to help you out…because we’ve been in this exact situation before!
Although my oldest is technically old enough to ride in his own ride vehicle, he’s not a fan of that when it comes to the rollercoasters, so yes! In my experience, you’re more than welcome to use
Rider Switch in that situation.
When you get to
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, just explain the situation to the Cast Member, and they’ll get you all set up. In our case, we ended up having 3 groups. First, my husband and oldest son went on the attraction, then my middle son and I hopped on, and finally my husband and youngest had their turn. (Yes, my husband got to ride twice…lucky!)
Something to think about if you go this route is that with 3 groups riding, it can take quite a bit of time out of your day. I recommend having a plan for the ones waiting, whether that’s hopping on a nearby attraction with a short queue, grabbing a snack, doing some souvenir shopping, taking a bathroom break…you get the idea!
It’s good to note that, usually with Rider Switch, the first group riding will need to wait in the standby queue while the following group(s) get to enter through the Lightning Lane. If you all want to enter through the Lightning Lane, you would all need a
Lightning Lane Single Pass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
I hope that all makes sense! If you have any other questions, let us know. We’re always happy to help!
