We are going on a Sea+land package in January. Will we be able to get into our room to drop our carry on type bags when we arrive at the hotel early int he morning from the cruise ship?

The official check-in time is 3:00 p.m. for most of the Disney resort hotels. If your room happens to be ready before this, you will be allowed in early, but I wouldn't count on this happening.

You do; however, have another alternative. All of the WDW hotels have baggage storage areas. You can take your carry-ons to the bell services desk at the resort. They will tag your bags, give you a receipt, and place your luggage in a secure area. This way you can go off and explore the resort or head out to the parks without worrying about your belongings. When your room is ready, just give your luggage receipt to the bell desk and they will either give you your bags or take them to the room for you.

Enjoy your cruise and your visit to Walt Disney World.
