Welcome aboard planDisney, Tina! I’m so glad you sailed by with your question. How exciting that you’ll be setting sail on the
Disney Treasure in March!
Disney Cruise Line offers two different
internet packages that you can
purchase once you’re onboard. Since you’ll be teaching an online class that involves Zoom, I definitely recommend selecting the Internet + Streaming package. It’s the highest-speed option available and currently priced around $42 per 24-hour period (though prices are subject to change). You can simply purchase internet service for the day you know you'll need it, but if you know you’ll need daily access, you can save a bit by purchasing a package for the length of your cruise.
I have heard reports that Disney Cruise Line ships are now using Starlink satellite service, and connection speeds have greatly improved. While I wasn’t able to get official confirmation directly from a Cast Member, my friend
Jana's recent experience for Zoom access onboard was good.
However, since it’s still satellite-based internet, connection quality can fluctuate depending on location and time of day. If possible, try to schedule your live sessions during port days (when the ship is docked) or during quieter times of the day, when fewer Guests are using it. You’ll also likely find the best connection from your stateroom, rather than in public areas or on the open decks.
And you won’t need to bring any special equipment, as
personal satellite devices aren’t permitted onboard. You’ll find everything you need to get connected right in the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you embark. When class is dismissed and you have a little downtime, be sure to treat yourself to a visit to the
Haunted Mansion Parlor!
Tina, I hope this helps you feel good about balancing your work with plenty of fun and relaxation on your Disney cruise!
Sea ya real soon,
Eean
