We are scheduled for Disney - 8 of us - March 18-22,2024. We are staying in 2 villas at bayside contemporary resort. We have small children with nut and egg allergies. Where are the safe places to eat with these little guys?

Hi Brenda! Your upcoming trip is going to be wonderful. Walt Disney World is one of my favorite places to vacation partly because of how easy it is to navigate with food allergies. I personally have a food allergy and so does my kid so I know how frustrating and difficult it can be to find good food and feel safe when eating at new places. Luckily Disney World has some amazing processes for handling allergies.

My favorite tool to use when navigating restaurants is the My Disney Experience app. You can make reservation and view menus for each restaurant directly in the app. Each restaurant has an allergy menu section that specifically lists all of the safe items for you to eat. Contempo Cafe is a great place to grab a quick breakfast inside the Contemporary Resort, which is connected by bridge to your hotel. After breakfast you can jump straight on the monorail to get to Magic Kingdom or Epcot. If you scroll to the bottom of the menu I linked, you can easily see all of the safe items for your children. Each Disney World restaurant has this available online and in the app. Once you arrive at a restaurant please let the staff know you are dining with an allergy and they will alert the chef. All precautions will be taken when making and delivering your food. I typically avoid buffet restaurants as they can be a little more difficult to navigate with younger children who may get frustrated that they can't just go up to the buffet and grab a bunch of stuff like everyone else.

At Magic Kingdom, my favorite location to dine is Skipper Canteen, it has some fun adventurous options for the adults and the staff are so helpful and hilarious. Flame Tree Barbecue at Animal Kingdom is amazing and the portions are huge. Your resort location is also great because you are a monorail ride away from the Polynesian Resort which has my favorite character dining location Ohana. The kids will get to meet Stitch and friends while dancing around the restaurant.

Honestly, the beauty of Disney World is that your options are not limited when choosing where to dine with allergies! Everywhere will take excellent care of you. Just make sure to let them know and they will roll out the red carpet.

    Happy Planning
